How to Play

One of the most complicated parts of playing Backgammon is remembering how to arrange the board. Luckily, the computer does it for you in this game. Al you need to know is that each player has 15 checkers of the same color.

The aim is simple: bring all your pieces to the lower right corner of the board, then take them off the grid one by one. Your checkers move counterclockwise from the upper right, while your enemy moves clockwise from the bottom right. Can you clear off all the pieces before your opponent? That's the key to winning!

But how do you make a move? Easy, roll the two dice! You can move two pieces, each for as many spaces as either of the dice shows. However, you can also move only one tile, adding up the numbers on the two dice. 

Where can you move a piece? You have three options: choose a free space, one already occupied by your checkers, or a place on the board with just one enemy tile. The last version is the best, as it means you've captured an enemy piece! 

Capturing pieces is one of the best strategies in the game if you want to ensure your win. However, keep in mind that your checkers can be hit as well! If this happens, you will need to roll the dice and place your piece accordingly, starting from your enemy's half of the board. If there are no available places, tough luck! You'll lose your turn until you manage to release the captured piece.

Now that you know the basics, we'll let you in on some tips and tricks. For instance, you should always think about the smartest way to move your checkers. Try your best to advance your tiles in pairs so that you never have a lonely piece on the board. Your opponent will capture it the first chance they get!

Did you know that there is a lucky dice roll? Whenever both dice show the same number, you have the right to move again during your turn. This gimmick will give you the advantage you need! What is more, the best dice you can throw in this game is the double six score. Can you throw it?

Finally, if you have managed to bring all the pieces to your side of the board, it's time to start bearing off. It's a particular backgammon term that refers to taking your checkers off the board one by one. Let's say that you have a piece on the 5th point on the board. To get it off, you either need a 5 on one dice, two numbers that add up to 5, or a larger number. Repeat this until all checkers are gone, and enjoy your victory! Let's just hope that you are faster than your opponent!
