Let's get cooking! Here is the recipe for Napoleon Pastries:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 of a large package of puff pastry sheets (like the kind that folds up)
- 1 box of vanilla instant pudding mix
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 cups of fluffy whipped cream
- 1 and a half cups of sliced strawberries (get them ready!)
- 1/4 cup of melted dark chocolate (the semisweet kind is great)
- 1/2 cup of white powdered sugar
Directions:
Okay, chef! Let's make some amazing pastries by following these steps:
1. First, we need to make the oven nice and warm. Turn it up to 400°F.
2. Get a baking sheet and put a piece of special paper on it called parchment paper.
3. Let's make the creamy filling! Get a big bowl. Pour the milk into it and add the vanilla instant pudding mix. Stir it really, really well until it's all mixed up.
4. Now, gently take the fluffy whipped cream and fold it into the pudding mix. Mix it softly!
5. Cover the bowl and put the pudding mix in the refrigerator to get cold for 10 minutes.
6. Take the puff pastry sheet and unfold it onto a surface where you've sprinkled a little flour.
7. Look at the folds in the pastry – cut the whole sheet into 3 long strips right along those fold lines.
8. Now, cut those 3 long strips into smaller rectangle shapes.
9. Place these pastry rectangles onto the baking sheet you prepared with the paper.
10. Put the baking sheet into the warm oven. Bake them for 15 minutes. Keep an eye on them until they are golden brown and look puffy!
11. Carefully take the hot pastries out of the oven. Put them on a wire rack so they can cool down for 10 minutes. This is important so the filling doesn't melt!
12. Once they are cool, take two of the baked puff pastry rectangles.
13. Spread some of the yummy pudding mixture on top of each of these two pieces.
14. Put 3 or 4 slices of yummy strawberries on top of the pudding on both pieces.
15. Now, gently place one of the pastry pieces with filling on top of the other one. You've made two delicious layers!
16. Take one more baked puff pastry piece. Put pudding and strawberries on this one too, just like before.
17. Carefully place this third pastry piece on top of the stack you just made. Wow, three perfect layers!
18. Sprinkle the white powdered sugar all over the top of your layered pastry.
19. Now for the final touch! Drizzle the melted dark chocolate in squiggly lines, or however you like, all over the top.
20. Your amazing layered Napoleon pastries are ready to be enjoyed!
