- 4 tablespoons (Tbsp) of olive oil
- 17.5 ounces (oz) of tomato puree
- 2 tablespoons (Tbsp) of sugar
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of hot paprika
- 1 ounce (oz) of onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of dried basil
- Salt (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of black pepper, coarsely ground
- 5-7 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 ounce (oz) of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup of red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons (Tbsp) of dry white wine
Pizza Dough:
- 3 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of salt
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of dry yeast
- 1 and 1/4 cups of warm water
- 3 tablespoons (Tbsp) of olive oil
- Chopped rosemary (to taste)
Pizza Toppings:
- 3 cups of mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Sliced (vegetarian) pepperoni
- Sliced ripe tomatoes
- Sliced mushrooms
- Sliced black olives
Directions
Making Pizza Sauce:
1. Place a saucepan under heat and warm it through. Then, add 4 Tbsp of olive oil.
2. Once hot, add 3.5 oz tomato puree, 2 Tbsp sugar, hot paprika, and salt. Stir over heat for several minutes.
3. When the oil has separated from the tomato sauce, add the diced onions and stir-fry until soft.
4. Then, add the remaining tomato puree, red wine vinegar, oregano, basil, black pepper, and chopped tomatoes. Mix well.
5. Cover the saucepan with a lid and let it cook for 15 minutes on medium-high heat.
6. Next, add the chopped garlic, Parmesan cheese, and white wine, stirring until the Parmesan is melted.
7. Turn off the heat and blend the sauce with a hand-held blender until it's smooth.
Making Pizza Dough:
8. In a bowl, stir warm water and dry yeast together. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy (this means the yeast is ready!).
9. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and chopped rosemary. Add the yeast mixture and mix until everything is well combined.
10. Knead the dough until a smooth dough ball forms. Coat the dough in olive oil and cover it with plastic wrap. Let it sit for 1 hour until the dough doubles in size.
Shaping & Topping Pizza:
11. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Sprinkle flour on a cutting board, place the dough on it, and sprinkle more flour over the dough. Roll out the dough into a flat, circular shape (about 1/2-inch thick).
12. Using a large heart-shaped pizza cutter (or a knife), carefully cut a heart shape out of the flattened dough circle.
13. Place the dough heart on a baking tray. Brush olive oil over the heart.
14. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the top of the dough heart.
15. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
16. Top the pizza with sliced tomatoes, sliced (vegetarian) pepperoni, sliced mushrooms, and sliced black olives.
Baking & Serving:
17. Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the crust turns golden brown.
18. Let the finished pizza cool for a few minutes before serving.
Making this heart-shaped pizza is a sweet way to show affection! You'll blend tasty flavors, gooey cheese, and a crisp crust for a meal ideal for sharing. Prepare to present your delicious, homemade symbol of love!
