Ingredients:
- 1 ripe tomato, cut into thin slices
- 3 tablespoons (Tbsp) of ricotta cheese
- 1 clove of chopped garlic
- Basil leaves (for decorating on top)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for decorating on top)
- Salt and pepper (to make it taste good!)
The Dough:
- 1 tablespoon (Tbsp) of dry yeast
- 2 cups of flour, plus a little extra for dusting
- 2/3 cup of warm (not hot) water
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of salt
- 2 tablespoons (Tbsp) of olive oil
- A tiny pinch of sugar
Directions:
Let's get cooking and make this delicious Pizza Tricolore, starting with the dough!
Making the Dough:
1. Get a small bowl. Combine the warm water, dry yeast, and the pinch of sugar in it. Stir it, then set it aside until you see foam and bubbles appear on the top (this means the yeast is ready!).
2. Meanwhile, get a large bowl. Mix together the 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, the 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and a few spoonfuls of water.
3. When the yeast mixture is ready (bubbly!), add it to the large bowl with the flour mix.
4. Mix everything until you get a smooth and stretchy dough. It should not be too dry or too sticky.
5. Sprinkle some extra flour on a surface. Take the dough out and push and fold it (knead) for one minute. Then, shape it into a ball.
Letting the Dough Rise:
6. Place the dough ball into a bowl. Lightly brush the top of the dough ball with a little olive oil.
7. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap.
8. Leave the dough for 20 to 30 minutes. Watch until the dough has become twice as big (doubled in size).
Shaping the Dough and Assembling the Pizza:
9. Sprinkle a little flour on a surface again. Take the dough out from the plastic wrap.
10. Roll the dough flat with a rolling pin until it is as thick as you like for your pizza base.
11. Carefully move the flattened dough onto a pizza pan.
12. Spread a thin layer of the ricotta cheese all over the dough, leaving the edges plain.
13. Sprinkle the chopped garlic evenly over the cheese.
14. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese next, spreading it out nicely.
15. Arrange the thin tomato slices evenly all over the pizza.
16. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the toppings to make it taste good.
Baking and Serving:
17. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Place the pizza in the warm oven and bake for 15 minutes. Watch until the edges turn golden brown.
18. Carefully take the pizza out of the oven and let it cool a little bit.
19. Add fresh basil leaves on top of the pizza for garnish. You can also drizzle a little olive oil over it to serve.
Making your very own pizza from scratch is a super satisfying kitchen adventure! Following the steps helps you turn simple ingredients into a light, crispy base and top it with classic, yummy flavors. Get ready to shout "Perfetto!" when your pizza is ready!
