How to Play

Getting started is easy! You'll use your mouse to click on all the cool doctor's tools and carefully move them where they belong. Don't worry. Nurse Lara will be right there, guiding you in every move and telling you just what to do.

Your very first task is to check on Joe's heart. You'll pick up a special listening tool, a stethoscope, to hear how his heart is doing. Lara will make sure you grab the right one!

Preparing for the Life-Saving Operation

After listening to Joe's heart, it's time to get him ready. You'll carefully move him to the operating room. Look closely because there are three rooms, and only one is right for a heart operation!

Once you're in the right place, you'll need to make Joe's chest super clean. You'll use tongs to hold a cotton ball, dip it into a blue liquid, and gently rub it all over his skin to chase away any germs. Then, you'll use a special marker to draw a line on his chest, showing exactly where you'll begin.

Inside the Heart of the Matter

Now, for the incredibly delicate work! With a scalpel, you'll make a careful cut along the line you drew. Try to be super precise! As you make the cut, tiny spots of blood might appear. You'll use a special tool called a bovie to gently stop them just by clicking. But don't go crazy clicking everywhere, as you might hurt the patient. Next, you'll use two clamps to gently spread the skin and muscles, giving you a clear view inside.

Deep inside, you'll use special bone scissors to carefully snip through the ribcage, opening the way to the heart. This part demands perfect aim! You might see tiny bone fragments – use your tongs to carefully pick them out. Before you do anything else, look for some important nerves, which look like bluish tubes. You'll use a special string to gently move them out of the way, being extra careful not to bump them.

A Brand New Beat and Closing Up

Here comes the most amazing part: the new heart! First, you'll connect Joe to a heart-pumping machine. This means matching different colored tubes, labeled A, B, C, and so on. Next, you'll use sharp scissors to carefully cut the veins holding Joe's old heart, gently removing it. Then, with great care, you'll place the new heart into his chest. Finally, you'll use suture thread to carefully sew all the heart's tubes (the veins) back together, making them whole again.

Almost finished! You'll use your tongs to place any tiny bone fragments back where they belong. Then, you'll gently put the chest bones back together and use a bone stapler to hold them securely. You might also add some special bone paste. Be careful with the paste; if you use it at the wrong time, you'll get a warning.

Next, you'll carefully remove the clamps. The very last step is to stitch the skin incision back together using suture thread. To help Joe heal perfectly, you'll wrap his chest in cast bandages to keep everything snug and steady.
